Privacy policy
What we collect, why we collect it, what we never publish, and how to ask us about any of it.
1. This website
The pages on artificialfrontier.com set no cookies, run no third-party advertising or analytics scripts, and load nothing from another company's servers. The only script on this site fills in our support address. Our hosting provider processes ordinary connection information — such as your IP address and browser user agent — in order to serve the pages and protect against abuse.
2. What the product collects
When you create an account
- your email address, which is also how you sign in — we send a one-time code rather than using passwords;
- a username and a display name;
- your date of birth, which we use to apply age rules (13+ for an account, 18+ for any payment). We do not publish it.
What you choose to add
- a profile photo and any other photos you upload;
- demands you submit, support you give, targets and demands you watch, and other activity in the product;
- reports and blocks you create, and any message you send us.
When you buy a Boost
- a record of the order: the amount, currency, what it was for, its status, and how much of it was delivered;
- references that let us match the order to the payment with our payment provider.
We never receive or store your card number. Card details are entered on our payment provider's own checkout page and stay with them.
Technical and safety information
We and our infrastructure providers process connection and device information such as IP address and user agent for security, abuse prevention, and diagnosing faults. Where the product records that you agreed to something specific, we keep a record of that agreement so that both of us can rely on it later.
Verified Demand (in development)
If you use Verified Demand once it exists, we will keep a record of the amount you stated and of the evidence behind it. Evidence and capacity information is kept in private storage that public pages cannot read. We never publish your identity, your amount, your payment method, or your evidence, and we never show a bank balance anywhere. Targets receive aggregate information about a demand — never a list of the people behind it, and never individual amounts.
3. What is public
Some things are public by design, and you should know which before you use the product: your username, display name, and profile photo; the public demands you submit; and the fact that you support a public demand. Aggregate figures for a demand — totals, counts, concentration measures — are public. Individual economic amounts are not.
A public demand is a community object. Closing your account removes your participation in it, but does not by itself delete the demand.
4. Why we process it
- to operate the product — signing you in, showing demands, counting support;
- to apply age and eligibility rules;
- to take and reconcile payments for Boosts, and to process refunds;
- to keep the platform safe: moderation, blocking, reporting, and preventing manipulation of counts and totals;
- to answer you when you contact us;
- to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
5. Who else processes your information
We keep this list short on purpose. We use:
- Vercel — website and application hosting;
- Supabase — our database, file storage, and the email sign-in code service;
- Stripe — payment processing for Boost purchases.
Each of these processes information on our behalf in order to run the service. Our hosting region is in the United States. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertising networks or data brokers. We use no third-party advertising or analytics trackers; where we measure how a shared link performed, we do it in our own database.
We may disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to investigate abuse, protect someone's safety, or establish or defend a legal claim.
6. Cookies
This marketing website uses no cookies. The product uses cookies that are necessary to sign you in and keep your session secure. Product cookies are set for the product's own host and are not shared with this website.
7. How long we keep things
We keep account information for as long as you have an account. We keep records of payments and refunds for as long as we need them for accounting, tax, and dispute purposes. Some records — moderation decisions, safety reports, and records of an agreement you gave — are kept after an account closes, because deleting them would remove the evidence that protects other people.
Concretely:
- Account information — kept while your account is open, and deleted within 30 days of you closing it.
- Payment and refund records — kept for 7 years, because accounting and tax rules require it. These are transaction records, not card numbers: we never hold your card details, which stay with our payment provider.
- Security and audit logs — kept for 2 years, so we can investigate account takeover, fraud, and abuse after the fact.
- Sign-in code emails — kept for 90 days.
- Moderation decisions, safety reports, and records of an agreement you gave — kept after an account closes, because deleting them would remove the evidence that protects other people. We remove your identifiers from them where we can still do so without destroying the record.
8. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of the personal information we keep about you, correct something that is wrong, delete your account, or object to a particular use. Email us and we will handle it. Depending on where you live you may have additional legal rights; we will apply them where they apply to you.
Some things we cannot delete on request — a payment record we must keep for accounting, or a moderation record that exists to protect someone else. If that is the case we will tell you which and why, rather than quietly refusing.
9. Children
The product is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Nobody under 18 can make a payment or take any financial action in the product. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, tell us and we will remove it and the associated information.
10. Security
Access to personal data is restricted at the database level rather than only in the application, sensitive verification information is kept in storage that public pages cannot read, and we never hold card details. No system is perfect; if something goes wrong that affects you, we will tell you.
11. Changes to this policy
We will update this page as the product changes, and the "last updated" date will change with it. Where a change materially affects you, we will make that clear.
12. Contact
Any question or request about your personal information: contact us.
