Terms of use
The rules for using Artificial Frontier's website and product. Written to describe what the product actually does.
1. What these terms cover
These terms apply to this website and to Project Demand, our pre-launch product. By using either, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use them.
Artificial Frontier is a sole proprietorship operated by its founder in the United States. It is not incorporated, and we do not describe it as a company, an LLC, or a corporation anywhere on this site. If that changes, this section changes with it.
2. The product is pre-launch
Project Demand is in development and is not open to the public. Features described on this site may change, be delayed, or not ship at all, and some are explicitly labelled as planned or as depending on a payment provider's approval. Nothing on this site is an offer of a service you can buy today, and nothing here is a commitment to a launch date.
3. Your account
You need an account to take part. To create one you must be at least 13 years old, and you must give us accurate information — including a real date of birth, which we use to apply age rules. Accounts are personal; do not share yours or let someone else use it.
Some parts of the product are restricted by age beyond the account minimum. In particular, you must be 18 or older to make any payment, including buying a Boost. People under 18 have no financial participation in the product of any kind.
You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it.
4. Public demands belong to the community
A public demand is not owned by whoever submitted it. Once it is public it is a shared object that other people join and support. Submitting a demand gives you no control over it, no right to sell or transfer it, no claim on any response to it, and no entitlement to any money that might ever flow from it.
Demands are moderated. We can decline, edit for policy reasons, close, or remove a demand, including one you submitted or supported.
5. Targets, mentions, and being named
Every demand points at one identified target. Organisations may appear in our directory without having claimed themselves. Individuals are different: a person can only be named as a target after they control the account, have verified a social identity, and have explicitly opted in — and they can opt out again.
Being named in a demand creates no obligation. A target is not required to respond, to acknowledge it, to provide anything, or to engage with us at all. A demand is a statement by members of the public about what they want; it is not a contract, an order, or a claim against anyone.
If you are, or represent, a company or person named in a demand and something about the association is wrong, tell us and we will review it.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- impersonate a person, company, or brand, or claim authority you do not have;
- target, name, or post about a person who has not consented to being targeted;
- post content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, threatening, sexually exploitative, or that infringes someone's rights;
- manipulate our systems — fake accounts, coordinated inauthentic support, automated scraping, or attempts to inflate any count or total;
- attempt to bypass moderation, blocking, age rules, or any security control;
- use the product to solicit money for yourself, or to attempt any payment we do not offer.
We can suspend or close an account, remove content, and refuse service where we consider it necessary to enforce these rules, protect people, or comply with the law.
7. Content you post
You keep ownership of what you post. You give us the permission we need to store, display, and distribute it within the product — including showing a demand you started to other people, which is the entire point of the service.
You are responsible for having the right to post what you post. Do not upload other people's photographs, logos, or copyrighted material without permission.
8. Boosts
A Boost is a purchase from us of promotional distribution for a public demand. In buying one you agree that:
- you are paying Artificial Frontier, not the target of the demand, and the target receives nothing from your purchase;
- a Boost is not a donation, not Verified Demand, and not backing for any campaign;
- a Boost buys additional appearances of a demand in feeds — reach, opens, supporters, and any response from the target are outcomes, not promises we make;
- a Boost never adds supporters and never changes how a demand ranks organically;
- the budget runs for up to 30 days from payment, or until it is fully delivered;
- refunds work as described in our refund and cancellation policy, which forms part of these terms;
- you must be 18 or older, in a supported region, and buying within our published amount limits.
Payments are handled by our payment provider's checkout. We do not receive or store your card details.
9. Verified Demand
Verified Demand is a statement of what an outcome is currently worth to you. It is not a payment and not a promise to pay.
- No money is collected merely because you add Verified Demand. Nothing is charged, nothing is reserved, and no merchant is authorised.
- It expires, and you can increase, reduce, or withdraw it at any time before then.
- The public total shows aggregates only. Your identity, your amount, and any verification evidence are not published.
- It creates no obligation for you toward a target, and no obligation for a target toward you.
- It never automatically becomes backing for a campaign. Backing is always a separate, fresh decision on published terms.
10. Target campaigns are not offered
Target campaigns are planned and depend on a payment provider's written approval that we do not have. They are not available and nothing on this site offers one. If we ever operate them, each campaign will carry its own published terms — deliverable, price, minimum, deadline, and refund terms — and those terms will govern that campaign in addition to these.
11. What we are not
We are not a bank, a money transmitter, an investment platform, a lender, or any other kind of financial institution, and we do not hold money on your behalf. Our product does not provide peer-to-peer cash transfer, account balances, investments, crypto assets, or credit. See how payments work for the detail.
12. Availability and changes to the product
We are building this. Features can change or be withdrawn, and the service can be unavailable. Where we switch something off, we will keep the actions people need to stay safe and to leave — blocking, reporting, revoking a consent, and getting at their own records — available.
13. Ending your use
You can stop using the product at any time and ask us to close your account. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we must for legal or safety reasons. Closing an account does not by itself remove a public demand, because a public demand is a community object rather than a personal post; it does remove your participation in it.
14. Disclaimers, liability, and governing law
The product is provided as it is, without warranties that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose. We are not responsible for what a target does or does not do in response to a demand.
To the extent the law allows, our liability to you for any claim connected to this website or the product is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in this section is intended to remove a right you have that cannot legally be removed, and nothing here limits liability for fraud.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, and disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located there.
15. Changes to these terms
We will update these terms as the product changes, and the "last updated" date will change with them. Where a change materially affects you, we will make that clear rather than relying on a silent edit.
